Fire drill onboard

Seafarers must be ready in case of emergency on board, so we conducted drills every month so that to prepare ourselves for actual scenario. Fire is one of the common and most dangerous phenomenon onboard, it already took a lot of seafarer's lives. Fire fighters don't sail with us on board so when in the event of fire we must be ready to face it.

 In this fire drill scenario the fire was located on tank 3 vapor dome. Fire alarm is sounded and all crew assembled to their master stations, put in their fire fighting suit and proceeded into the area. 2 people from attack team and 2 from support team should wear the fire fighting suit with breathing apparatus.

 Commencing the drill, starting the fire pump and spraying water on the area. The support team should do boundary cooling while the attack team is attacking the fire.

 In this picture the chief officer was instructing the fire fighters how to do the right and proper way of fighting the fire. First thing is that to position yourself towards the wind not against the wind.
