Not Your Typical Idol

Words are powerful. They inspire us, launch us into action, and they drive us to create the changes we want to see in the world. That is how leaders have a strong grip over their followers. Words can either mend you and build you up or it can totally destroy you. 

Nelson Mandela, the South African Political Leader is well known for this good deeds all around the globe and Sir Mandela once said :

It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

That being said, how does an individual become a leader? In my opinion, an individual needs to posses the basic core leaderships values that are the guiding principles of our life. There are leaders in our lives in any point as these leaders would guide and facilitate us to make a positive difference in our own lives and to contribute to a larger good. The application of leadership qualities as the competencies of leadership are activated – learned, developed, and practiced – within the set of core values.  By focusing on what people believe and value, and then positively building on this understanding, we have the potential for impact far more wide reaching than if we approached leadership development as a problem-solving activity.

I've learnt the core leadership values from Ajith Kumar.

Ajith Kumar aka Thala, is one of the leading actors is my Idol. He has so many leadership values that he upholds and ensures that his fans are to follow the right path and not to do anything that would harm themselves in any ways. Thala has always demonstrated self respect and respecting others regardless of differences. Thala treats others with dignity, empathy and compassion that earns the respects of others. The interviews conducted over the past years where celebrities or line workers of the film industry is interviewed, the first thing they always say about Thala is that he is humble and very respectful. This is a quality I have always admired about Thala. Have you ever came across an actor that cooks for his whole team during a movie shoot? Well, Thala's briyani is to die for and I wish one day I would be able to eat his cooking. Fingers crossed.

Besides this, Thala has always been the man that loves making a difference. He has demonstrated by using his personal efforts that lead to making a positive impact on his fans. Thala fans would know that, Thala is a bike lover and he has always made sure his fans know that, wearing an helmet is a must and he abides to the rules and regulations. Due to this, the number of riders wearing helmet while riding as increased drastically. In additional to what being said, Thala is a man who believes in service above self. He has shown commitment to extends beyond one's own self interest; personal humility for the sake of a greater good. His actions to help the ones in need has played a big leadership impact on his fans as almost every country has a Thala trust or a Charity group that helps the ones in need with the name Thala. 

Thala has shown his authenticity. He has proved us all through his consistency, congruence and transparency in values, beliefs and actions. He has this integrating values and principles to create a purposeful life and also to contribute to the growth of others. Thala has shown moral courage, ethical strength and trustworthiness especially when he does his charity work silently and away from the eyes of the media.

To conclude it all, one of the thing I love and truly admire about Thala is his wisdom. He has made it clear that he has a broad understanding of the human dynamics and an ability to balance the interests of multiple parties while making decisions. One of it would be when he went through several major surgeries and was up and about to act for his fan happiness. He definitely has the long term perspective in decision making because his decision to continue acting for us, his fans was the best decision. Thala knows how to differentiate his love for racing and his career as an actor and that humility is why Thala is and probably will always be open to perspectives different from one's own.

This is why, Thala Ajith Kumar is a man that I idolize as his leadership values are something I will admire now, tomorrow and always. Thank you .
