Now.. lets start with at the beginning what is staffing?

Staffing is the process of hiring eligible candidates in the organization or company for specific positions. In management, the meaning of staffing is an operation of recruiting the employees by evaluating their skills, knowledge, and then offering them specific job roles accordingly.




Small businesses are much less able to absorb unforeseen absences -- sick leave or a family emergency, for example -- than a larger organization, simply because of the reduced numbers of staff available to provide coverage.



Everybody atleast once in their lifetime has to experience this at any point of their life. Some are fortunate enough to complete their studies and look for an opportunity.  Some, have to look for an opportunity in order to complete their studies.

Staffing can be considered as one of the major factor for a company to grow, without the staffs a company can never reach its goal. Hence, thats why it is very important to prove to the organization our capabilities and ensure our performance is valid!.



So far as ive seen, most of the organizations have a similar way to recruit staffs. I myself have experienced this alot during my days of looking for a company to offer me a place on one of their ship to complete my seatime. As ya'll know how the shipping economy is going down, its even harder for us trainees to get a ship to serve and complete our seatime.

And finally a company replied to my email, and so the process started. The first week, they gave me an id and password to login on their website and boom! Therr was a surprise test with 90 Questions and 90 minutes to answer, then oncs ive cleared that. The 2nd week, they fixed a skype account and i had an interview session through skype video call. And finally a small test on the killer topics being specific to the type of ship that i was about to put on..

You see the reason im telling y'all this is coz i wanna emphasize on the protocols they follow. To just accept me as a trainee on their ship. Which is actually the lowest rank onboard vessels. Remember in the begining i mentioned organizations will want the best out of the best that they can find. Yeah this is one of the methods, through sudden examinations followed by interview session and oral questions.

Now you know a little bit of my experience.. let me share with you the important functions of staffing. 

The first and foremost function of staffing is to obtain qualified personnel for different jobs position in the organization.

In staffing, the right person is recruited for the right jobs, therefore it leads to maximum productivity and higher performance. It helps in promoting the optimum utilization of human resource through various aspects.

Job satisfaction and morale of the workers increases through the recruitment of the right person.Staffing helps to ensure better utilization of human resources.It ensures the continuity and growth of the organization, through development managers.
